Trobas Gelatine focuses on a digital future
1927, the year in which the story of this family business originally began, in the area of Dongen. In 1978, the entire company site moved to the Tichelrijt industrial estate, where the gelatin-based glue left the production line in a traditional way.
For the past five years, we have worked with them to optimize the various business processes that the company had. How we made them future-proof? By fully digitizing those processes.

Since the mid-1980s, the production process has been modernized step by step and today the company can count itself as one of the leading producers of high-quality gelatin products. They now only produce gelatin for food and pharmaceutical applications.
With a look to the future
For the past five years, we have worked with them to optimize the various business processes that the company had. How we made them future-proof? By fully digitizing those processes.
First of all, we extensively examined the current working method. We asked our customer the necessary in-depth questions to fully visualize the flow from raw material to end product. During this inventory, minor obstacles were uncovered and the entire production process was made more transparent. It was up to us to analyze what options existed to efficiently connect the different processes and thus increase productivity. To achieve this, it was necessary to integrate all manual processes of the laboratory into the so-called LIMS, or Laboratory Information Management System, a system that we tailor-made for them.
A custom application
After mapping out the manual processes, we were allowed to develop and implement a custom application in which data related to the production process and traceability are recorded. In this application, the various products, articles, raw materials and the associated key figures are added, so that people are always informed about the quality of the product and the production process.
Trace in which room a certain product is located, check in which batch the viscosity of the product dropped or run weekly reports? Smoothly!
Even more power
Then we were allowed to implement a wide range of Microsoft Power Apps in their working environment. These apps make it possible to gain insight into various of their applications in an accessible way, such as their extensive product information management system (PIM) and their production tracking system (PVS). These apps are still a powerful tool today to help streamline the business.
